2019 Dreams scholarship winner
Congratulations to Aasaad Burn!
The Abby’s Closet Board of Directors along with the Dreams Scholarship Committee are proud to announce the winner for the 2019 Abby’s Closet Dreams Scholarship. Aazaad Burn has been selected to receive a $2,000 scholarship award. Aazaad lives in Mercer Island, Washington and is a dynamic student at Mercer Island High School. She has particular interests in languages (French, Persian, beginning Chinese), mathematics, music (violin, viola), student organizations, and community service. She is president of ACLU club and French Tutoring Club, and is part of the Swim and Ultimate Frisbee teams as well as the French, Music, and National Honor Societies. Aazaad heard about Abby’s Closet when Mercer Island High School held a formal dress exchange similar to what Abby’s Closet does before the Winter Tolo dance.
Aazaad will be attending the Clark Honors College at the University of Oregon in fall of 2019, and intends to major in mathematics. She hopes to blend her love of math and social justice to help solve social justice issues by using statistics as a means to measure and identify the various causes and effects of these problems.
