Sharing the LovE

“Sharing the Love” is a program that donates prom dresses directly to high schools in Oregon and Washington for distribution to its students. 

The primary goal is to get prom dresses into the hands of students who would like them but cannot attend our annual Abby’s Closet Giveaway event, as they reside two hours or more away from Portland. We also strive to reach communities that are under-served.

Sharing the Love began in 2018. In the last five years, over 7,700 dresses have been donated to high schools and nonprofit organizations in Oregon and Washington. In 2020, due to the global pandemic, the annual Prom Dress Giveaway event was canceled and STL became our primary giveaway program. Over 2,300 dresses were donated to 20 high schools that year. In 2022, Abby’s Closet was proud to deliver over 2,000 beautiful prom dresses to 20 high schools, in many cities, including Yakima in Washington and Newport, Toledo, Pendleton, Maupin and Bend in Oregon.
