What is Abby's Closet's position on DEI?

At Abby's Closet, we believe every high school student deserves to feel confident and valued. We provide free formal dresses to students of all backgrounds, focusing on inclusivity, education, and empowerment. Our goal is to create a welcoming space where all students—regardless of gender, sexual orientation, race, size, ability, or socioeconomic status—can celebrate milestones with pride and dignity.

Can I shop at Abby's Closet all year round?

Although we would love for this to be the case, we actually have all of our dresses safe and in storage until our Annual Prom Dress Giveaway Weekend. It takes a lot of strategy to manage thousands of dresses and accessories! That just means it's like Christmas when we unbox them each year.

Do I need to have a certain financial situation to come pick out a dress?

We regularly have 7,000+ dresses every year! There are more than enough dresses (and accessories) for every student who wants one. And hey, you're doing us a favor too... Less to haul back to storage!

Do I need to be a high school senior going to prom to come pick out a dress?

You need to be a high school student, yes, but you do not need to be a senior OR planning on attending prom. Dresses may be used for any occasion the student sees fit!

What if I don’t find a dress I like because they’re old or out of style?

We've said it before, but we regularly have over 7,000 dresses available to shop from! Although you may not be personal fans of all of the dresses, rest assured that all dresses are gently used and on trend, with some even being brand new.

If I don't need a prom dress, is there really a reason for me to go to the event?

You are welcome to join in on the excitement for ANY reason you need a dress for. It doesn't matter if you find a dress for prom, another formal event, or just for fun... We have thousands of dresses, and we want to create a memorable experience for you.

Do I have to return my dress and accessories after prom?

Your dress and accessory are yours to keep! You can keep and treasure them forever, or you can always pay it forward and redonate at one of our donation drop off sites. The choice is yours.
