What information do I need to complete the Dreams Scholarship application?

In addition to answering the Dreams Scholarship questions regarding past activities and achievements, we will also be requesting applicants submit contact information for two references (one school reference and one personal reference).

Do I need to submit a copy of my transcript with my application?

No, you do not need to submit a copy of your transcript with your application. But, you do need to certify that you have read the Scholarship Guidelines and meet all requirements, including your GPA. If you are a finalist, we will be confirming with your school that your cumulative GPA is at least 2.50.

Why am I unable to fill out the online application form?

If you receive the following message when you try to complete the application form, it is because you do not have a Google email account: "You can't respond to 2024 Dreams Scholarship Application because you don't have permission to share documents with the form owner. Contact your domain administrator if you think this is a mistake." Your options are to either open a free Gmail email account or request to receive a Word document that can be submitted by email. To request a Word document of the application, email dreams@abbyscloset.org. Applications not submitted online need to be emailed to dreams@abbyscloset.org by the application deadline.

How will the scholarship monies be disbursed?

A check for the scholarship award will be mailed directly to the school once the student has enrolled and provides a Student ID # to Abby’s Closet.

Can an undocumented student apply?

Yes. The guidelines do not specify that you need to be a US citizen.

Will our responses to the questions be shared or put online in any way?

No.

Can I apply if I graduated from high school last year but took a gap year?

No. The guidelines state you need to be graduating from high school in 2024.

Can I apply if I graduated from high school a few years ago, but am now entering nursing school?

No. The guidelines state you need to be graduating from high school in 2024.

Can I apply if I am unable to attend the Giveaway?

The guidelines state you must be able to attend the giveaway event. If financial circumstances make this impossible, or if there are other extenuating circumstances, please notify Abby’s Closet prior to completing the application.

Would I qualify for the scholarship if I am in the process of transitioning to a female?

Yes. This scholarship is open to any graduating high school student who identifies as female.

How do I qualify for the Elaine A. Davis Memorial Scholarship?

All applicants who are planning on pursuing education in a healthcare field are eligible and will be considered for this scholarship. Those who are not selected to receive the Davis Scholarship will still be considered for the scholarship for the type of school they will be entering, i.e. trade, community college or 4-year college/university. A student will NOT be awarded two scholarships from Abby’s Closet.

What happens if I am awarded the Davis Scholarship but change my plans and will not be pursuing a career in a healthcare field?

You would need to forfeit the scholarship, and it will be awarded to another student.

What if I receive the award and then decide not to enter that specific school, i.e. trade school, community college, or 4-year university/college?

You would need to forfeit the scholarship, and it will be awarded to another student.
